February 15th, 2013 - Panwa Bay, Live India, and Walks Along the Beach

We took a long walk up to Panwa Bay Village and along the pier today.
The Pier.
The Pier.

Our main goal was to locate a restaurant that we’d read about, called Live India. We knew its general location and that the outside of the building might be yellow, so Geo insisted it would be easy enough to find. This kind of statement has the tendency to result in ten kilometer walks with the endless and false mantra of “We’re almost there!” Luckily, that was not the case this time, and the place was, in fact, easy enough to locate. Consequently, the food was also delicious, so it was a walk well-spent.

Feeling especially brave, we stopped at a fruit stand on our way home. Well, the vendor actually waved us over and started feeding us samples, so he pretty much carried the weight of the social interaction for us. We did end up trying some delectable new fruits that neither of us had eaten before (mangosteen and longan) and bought a bag of them along with some oranges.

We even saw a bat on the way home! It was adorable. Adorable in the sense that it’s all cute and cuddly looking from a distance, but you wouldn’t actually want to touch it without getting your rabies shots first.

The best part of this excursion, however, was walking down the beach at sunset. It’s not every day that you get to see such a gorgeous sunset on the beach. (Unless you’re in Thailand, that is.)
